Define Parameters Tab

The Define Parameters tab lets you define the properties for each parameter listed on the Define Search tab. These parameters provide the user with variable filters on the data. These filters are typically applied to the search criteria at the source of the data.

The General tab lets you change the name, data type, and description for the parameter.

The Available Values tab lets you provide a list of available values for a parameter when running the report. You can obtain these values from the following sources:

  • None - Do not provide any values for the parameter.
  • Specified Value - Lets you specify a list of valid values to choose from.
  • Get Value from a Search - Lets you specify an eQL search that will return the valid values.
  • From a well-known predefined list - Lets you specify values obtained from eQL elements.
  • Other - Obtains the values from a Calendar or an Attribute Value list.

The image below shows using the From a well-known predefined list option to supply a list of values with their corresponding labels.

When you run the report, the following labels will be available in a list:

The Default Values tab lets you define a default value to present to the user when the report is executed, rather than showing just a blank field.

In the case of a date field you have the option to either specify a fixed default or to define a date calculation. Examples of valid syntax for the DATECALC function are provided for your convenience.
